HI!
We’re Mike and Emily, the husband-and-wife team behind Maine Craft Cannabis. We started MCC in 2018 because we we’re passionate about exceptionally high quality cannabis and wanted to bring ethically and thoughtfully crafted cannabis products to Maine’s medical cannabis market. Because that’s what Maine’s patients deserve!
FROM ENGINEERS TO CANNABIS FARMERS
We’re both former mechanical engineers who grew tired of sitting at a desk all day and wanted to do something we felt more passionate about. Out of pure curiosity, we attended the 2017 Homegrown Expo in Augusta. We both immediately felt excited about the passion and commitment of the industry folks we met, as well as the seemingly endless list of technical problems the still needed to be solved. We knew we’d have a lot to contribute and set out to get a foot in the door!
Our engineering roots definitely impact our approach to cannabis farming… we take a systematic and scientific approach in everything we do, with the goal of producing the highest quality, safest, cleanest, and most trustworthy products on the market. And of course, the most delicious! As it turns out a commercial cannabis grow is just one long string of engineering problems to solve, so our skills are put to good use on a daily basis :)
OUR SPECIALTIES
Mike spent his engineering career doing large scale, niche, and often custom machine design. He excels in understanding and designing all things physical and is a never-ending source of creative solutions for our operation. He’s also our resident soil nerd who manages the soil nutrition and ecosystem in our living soil beds and continually pushes the bar forward on cultivation techniques to improve quality over time.
Emily’s background is in user-focused design and human perception. She loves thinking about the needs and preferences of the patients who are using our medicine, and designing products that are easy to understand and to use. As someone who didn’t start consuming cannabis until she was in her 30s, she can relate to how confusing and overwhelming the cannabis landscape can be, and she loves helping to make it more approachable.
